Efficient CNC Machining through robot integration on an Okuma Simul Turn LU300-M

Automation solutions are becoming increasingly important in modern CNC manufacturing in order to ensure consistently stable processes and increase efficiency. The integration of the SherpaLoader®T25 into the production process of an Okuma Simul Turn LU300-M enables reliable handling of workpieces and optimized process control. All steps from the raw part to the finished part are automated and synchronized.

Robot-assisted machining on the Okuma Simul Turn LU300-M: From material supply to the finished part

The blanks are supplied via a Table Trolleys, which ensures a structured and easily accessible feed. The SherpaLoader®T25 removes the first raw part from the Raw Material Staging with one of the two three-jaw grippers and transfers it to the alignment station. There, the position of the workpiece is precisely corrected in order to minimize deviations before clamping. The robot then transfers the blank to the work area of the Okuma Simul Turn LU300-M. Before clamping, the robot cleans the MAIN SPINDLE with compressed air. This removes chip and cooling lubricant residues and ensures reproducible clamping. Once the Part has been clamped in the MAIN SPINDLE, the machining process begins. During machining, the SherpaLoader®T25 is already preparing the next blank and positioning it on the alignment station. The integration of synchronous processes enables an optimized material flow, which reduces non-productive times and maximizes the spindle run time. Once Machining is complete, the robot cleans the workpiece with compressed air while the spindle rotates. This removes all chips and ensures a consistently high surface quality. This automated cleaning improves process stability and minimizes rework. After Machining, the SherpaLoader®T25 removes the finished part with the finished part gripper and carries out a further cleaning of the clamping. The prepared raw part, which has already been transferred to the work area of the Okuma Simul Turn LU300-M, is then clamped. The robot places the finished part back on the Raw Material Staging. A second Table Trolleys with raw parts is integrated into the process so that the robot continues the material flow seamlessly. This continuous process chain reduces manual intervention and significantly increases the effective spindle run time.

Automation with the SherpaLoader®T25 on the Okuma Simul Turn LU300-M ensures high component quality through precise workpiece handling and constant clamping conditions. The optimized processes increase productivity and reduce non-productive times, thereby increasing the economic efficiency of production. Integrated safety devices such as monitored sliding doors, a light curtain with mirror and an access guard secure the production area and protect against unauthorized access. Overall, this solution enables stable, efficient and safe production with high process reliability and improved personnel deployment.

milling machines - regardless of their year of manufacture. This means that the same SherpaLoader®
