CNC automation of a HAAS VF-2SS for reliable milling in series production
Robot-supported automation of CNC machining centers such as the HAAS VF-2SS enables reliable and efficient Machining of aluminium rails. Automated transfers, structured processes and gentle material handling ensure reproducible Machining in series production. The combination of the HAAS VF-2SS and SherpaLoader® M25 supports economically scalable production with consistent quality and high system availability.
Robot-supported machining process of aluminum strips on a HAAS VF-2SS
The SherpaLoader® M25 is equipped with a Vacuum area gripper and a pneumatic two-jaw parallel gripper. Raw parts can be tightly packed and provided on a Pallet without side clearance. The Vacuum gripper allows the robot automation system to react flexibly to the part geometry and position to be processed. The first Part is picked up with the vacuum gripper. This handling enables gentle gripping, even with sensitive surfaces. As the Part is sucked in from the top, the raw parts can be positioned particularly closely on the Raw Material Staging, thus saving space. This enables longer machine runtimes without manual intervention. Once the parts have been picked up, they are placed on an alignment station with mechanical stops. There, the Part is positioned in a defined position using stops and then transferred to the working area of the HAAS VF-2SS. Before the blank is inserted, the SherpaLoader® M25 automatically cleans the pneumatically controlled machine vice with compressed air. Constant clamping conditions are ensured by removing chips and cooling lubricant residues. After insertion, the workpiece is clamped and the machining process begins. Meanwhile, the robot picks up the next Orientation of Blanks and aligns it on the alignment station. Working parallel to the machining process reduces non-productive times and increases the spindle running time. After Machining, the finished part is removed with the two-jaw gripper. The Part is then placed on the Raw Material Staging for the finished parts. A space-saving arrangement of the finished parts is also achieved here. The next pre-positioned raw part is then picked up by the alignment station and transferred to the system.
Monitored safety devices for automatic operation with the SherpaLoader® M25
The robot cell is equipped with comprehensive safety devices. The system is equipped with protective devices to prevent people from being endangered by reaching in, crawling under and reaching over, and the robot cell is also equipped with safely interrogated door switches. Robot Positions and speed are also monitored for safety. These measures enable an automated production process while complying with the highest safety standards.
Reproducible milling processes with robot-assisted automation on a HAAS VF-2SS
The mechanical orientation of Blanks and the automated cleaning of the pneumatic vice enable the automation of the HAAS VF-2SS machining process with the SherpaLoader® M25 while maintaining reproducible clamping conditions and stable process conditions. The dimensional accuracy of the machined parts remains constant, variances are reduced and high part quality is guaranteed. At the same time,
