Robot-assisted production on a Grob G350
Automation solutions are used in CNC production to make machining processes more efficient and reproducible. The combination of the SherpaLoader®M25 with the Grob G350 5-axis machining center enables standardized processes, reduces non-productive times and stabilizes the entire process. Robot integration standardizes processes, increases productivity and achieves a consistently high quality of finished parts.
Automated machining process on the Grob G350 with the SherpaLoader®M25
Material is supplied via Table Trolleys, which ensure a structured and easily accessible material feed. The robot is equipped with two two-jaw grippers that enable safe transport of the workpieces. Thanks to the camera-based recognition system, the SherpaLoader®M25 detects the position of the raw parts on the Raw Material Staging and enables precise removal of the workpieces. This reduces the manual effort required for material provision and simplifies adaptation to different geometries. The robot picks up the first blank with the blank gripper and transfers it to the alignment station. There, the position is precisely corrected by a mechanical stop to minimize deviations before clamping. Precise alignment contributes to reproducible clamping and consistently high component quality.
The SherpaLoader®M25 then transports the blank into the work area of the Grob G350 and positions it in the vice. After clamping, machining begins while the next raw part is already being prepared on the alignment station. Synchronous Machining reduces downtimes and maximizes the spindle running time. Once Machining is complete, the robot removes the finished part with the finished part gripper, while the prepared blank is clamped in the vice at the same time. The finished workpiece is then deposited in the Raw Material Staging.
Combination of process reliability and economical production thanks to the automation of the Grob G350
Automation with the SherpaLoader® M25 on the Grob G350 combines reliable processes with high efficiency and stability. The camera system supports flexible series changeover and reduces set-up times, while mechanical alignment and parallel workpiece preparation increase productivity. In addition, a light barrier and protective devices against creeping under and reaching over ensure safe operation. This enables economical series production that delivers consistently high quality, minimizes manual intervention and optimizes machine utilization.
